If you follow my posts you have probably noticed I have a special liking for biographical films!
So yesterday when I noticed on my Netflix feed the biographical movie called Concussion I clicked the play button immediately.
After all,it starred Will Smith and some other big names like Alec Baldwin and David Morse so I guessed it wouldn't be that bad.
Here's the quick first gist of the movie:
Set during the 2000s, the film stars Will Smith as Dr. Bennet Omalu, a forensic pathologist who fights against the National Football League trying to suppress his research on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) brain degeneration suffered by professional football players. source
So... This movie puts emphasis on the drama side and the hardships Dr. Omalu faced from the NFL and also how CTE fucked the life of many players. Don't expect much action or whatever. I got bored a couple times but that's just me not being a great audience for the genre.
Other than that, I really don't have any complaints from the film. Will Smith and the other actors did a really great job in their roles and the writing was pretty solid.
At the end of the day, the movie succeed in the one thing that for me is most important in movies based on real events. It got me interested enough to spend a couple of hours checking on Google and Wikipedia more info about what actually happened.
An enjoyable watch overall. Not a masterpiece, but you don't regret watching it.
I'll give it a 7/10!
